Bio
I have been blessed to have traveled to several states and foreign countries. Always it is the geography, architecture and history of place that intrigues me. The textures of the landscapes, the buildings, the peoples are always an inspiration.
I began serious art study as a very non-traditional student at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. The classes that really excited me were working in ceramic and sculpture. I learned quickly that the main draw for me was texture, the duality of fragility and strength of the materials that could be formed into something that could project a feeling, or emotion.
I managed to do a semester at Teacher's College in Manhattan in advanced sculpture. That experience of finding interesting pieces of detritus from construction sites to walks in a park piqued my imagination; that and the freedom to explore working with a variety of materials led me to the work I do today and what you see in images on this site.
I have had a couple solo and group exhibitions of my work. I have also been a guest artist in galleries in Kennebunkport and Belfast, Maine.
Wherever I wander today, a walk down the street or a stroll on a beach, I am almost always able to find inspiration and new material.
Thank you for visiting.
